Dream Travel Girl - travel and personal growth
Dream Travel Girl is a travel blog, but not just a travel blog. Here you will find:
- Travel stories to get inspired
- Useful information to plan your trip
- How traveling can help you in terms of personal growth
It's not only about the trip itself, it's about the memories and learnings we get from traveling. It's possible to grow while traveling, and travel while growing, to finally achieve the life of our dreams.

Laia
Traveler, blogger and online Spanish teacher
Dreamer and curious person, I love traveling, learning and meeting new people. I believe that following our dreams is the key to happiness, and mine is to travel the world while I help other following their dreams.
I was born in Barcelona, but travel has always been part of my life.
As a kid I traveled through the books. I dived in their pages to explore mysterious places and meet adventurous characters. I learnt to believe in dreams.
When I was a teenager I spent three summers in Ireland, England and Ireland to learn English. This experience opened me the doors to the world, and I discovered that there are a lot of places to visit, interesting people to meet and cultures to discover.
I studied and lived two years in Sweden. There I learnt something that I confirm every time I visit a new country: apart from language, clothes, religion and skin color, we - people from different cultures - are not so different from each other.
I worked and lived eight years in France, where I had a depression that lasted seven years. That was the beginning of my internal journey, I was introduced to psychology, therapies, coaches and personal development. I learnt about myself, I discovered what I wanted to do with my life (or rather, what I didn't want) and found the strength to apply for a sabbatical leave to follow my dream of doing a round the world trip.
I did a round the world trip, alone, for one year. I learnt a lot about the world, about life and about myself. I confirmed what I kind of knew already: that I didn't want to go back to my old job in France. I wanted to keep traveling.
I spent one year studying and learnt about online businesses, blogging, social media and language teaching.
Nowadays I teach Spanish at Spanish to Travel and I write about travel and personal growth in my travel blog Dream Travel Girl. I'm also preparing my next trip to Asia with a one way ticket.

What they say about me
It was very inspiring meeting you because I felt that our stories are very similar. Women educated in a traditional way, always following the expectations of others but having dreams that go much further. And you did it, even with all your doubts and lack of experience, you left everything behind and went to explore the world. At your own speed, in your own way.
It is possible to do it, and this is very inspiring.
I always like to talk to travelers, to people who enjoy walking the streets of a new city, talk to local people and try new food. This is why I appreciate so much their advice for traveling. Being a woman and traveling alone I’m usually more careful but in general I always had good experiences.
It’s been 3 years since I traveled in South East Asia and talking to Laia who visited India recently inspired me a lot! Laia gave me very good advices and suggestions for my trip to India, that I’ll definitely try to follow.
The blog
This blog was born in August 2014 under a different name. During my round the world trip it was place to share my experiences with family and friends.
At the end of the trip it was reborn with a new name, platform and objective: to help other people to travel. And finally, in 2017 goes one step further and becomes bilingual English-Spanish, to reach even more people.
In this blog I share personal experiences, tips and learnings about:
- independent solo travel on a budget
- slow travel and carry on only travel
- top destinations, off the beaten path places and meeting local people
- personal growth
Note: all my trips have been paid by myself. There are no sponsored posts and I never received anything for free in exchange for a link/review. All my opinions are my own.
