After four months in Asia, on month five I moved on to Australia and New Zealand. That was a big change that came with new challenges. These are the reflections of my fifth month of solo travel, with a summary of the places I visited, the best moments I had and what’s next.
Milford Sound in usual weather conditions
Milford Sound, described as one of the most beautiful spots of New Zealand, is in the most rainy region of the country. So if you go there, get a rain jacket and plenty of smiles, be ready for any kind of weather and enjoy the majesty of the fjord.
Queenstown, Glenorchy and Middle Earth
Nowadays Queenstown is not the town of the queen but the capital of adventure sports. But it is not necessary to do high adrenaline sports or party in the night to enjoy the town. You can walk around, go up the hills for spectacular views, or even visit Glenorchy and Paradise where there are a couple of The Lord of the Rings film locations.
Fox glacier and lake Matheson: do not believe in postcards
I was looking forward to Fox Village. Having seen wonderful photos of the area, I was specially interested to see the Fox glacier and the lake Matheson, a mirror lake. But there I learnt that we should not always believe what we see in the postcards… but we can believe in people.
